One of the unsung qualities that a good wedding photographer needs is improvisation. On someone’s big day, plans will change, ideas will spring. A photographer needs to be flexible enough that they can adapt to any situation as it develops.

This was a first for me though. When I asked Candice how she and her brand-new-husband were going to travel to the reception, she said: “We’re taking the bus.”

The 192 bus is an iconic route between Manchester and Stockport. There’s one every few minutes on a very busy road, and definitely spend most of the time sat in traffic.

But in fairness, it was the most efficient way from the church to the reception!

Once it was established that groom Nathan HAD brought his bus pass to the wedding after all, the newlyweds flagged the next 192 down…

My own logistics went out the window. Improvising, my new plan was to jump on the bus with the new couple and get as many shots as possible! Then jump off at the next stop, run back to my car, and whizz to the reception as fast as I can.

None of this was planned beforehand. Being a wedding photographer always needs improvisation – but this was too iconic to miss!

Being a wedding photographer in Manchester means you shoot a lot of Manc landmarks – has anyone else had a wedding shoot on the 192?!
